EDUCATION pROGRAM

MADMi’s Education Program offers innovative and accessible experiences that are designed to generate in our visitors a sensibility and awareness as to how art and design inherently improve our quality of life.
We offer guided tours for family groups of 5 or more. In addition, we have an educational guide for families and students that you may request at the reception desk and use for self-guided tours of the permanent collection. We also offer entertaining activities and tours, inspired by our temporary exhibits, designed for boys and girls.

Guided tours are available by reservation from Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for groups of 5 or more. Tours are given in Spanish or English by docents who lead and accompany the group while presenting the art works and design pieces. Tours last from 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of tour and the educational level.

Guided tours with art workshops
Visits to our exhibits and participation in guided tours help foster a sensibility for aesthetics and promote ways in which to explore and recognize various forms of design and art trends. At the same time, participating in workshops help develop and hone skills, as participants explore various techniques, materials, and processes.

If you would like to enhance your guided tour with an art workshop, please notify us when making your reservation. Guided tours with workshops usually have an additional cost and may last approximately 30-60 minutes, depending on the type or level of the chosen workshop.

For reservations, please write us at educacion@madmi.org.

Grupos Escolares

All visits by school groups require reservations. Given the size of our galleries and the educational workshop, we recommend groups of 25 students or fewer. Groups larger than 25 students will be divided up in order to visit the galleries and will be staggered, especially if a creative workshop has been requested.

One adult for every 10 students must accompany school groups from the third grade up. One adult for every 5 students must accompany preschools through second-grade groups.

For teachers and college and university professors, admission to MADMi is free of charge.

Before bringing your students, we recommend that you schedule a visit to familiarize yourself with the permanent collection, the temporary exhibitions, and the museum in general. If you cannot visit us ahead of time, you can download the RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS:

GUIDE FOR THE FAMILY
MIRA EL GANDUL 2020
Our educational programs in art and design are catalysts for improving our communities’ quality of life, and MADMi is dedicated to creating experiences that take into account the needs of those who live in those communities.

Out of that objective arose MADMi’s commitment to creating a project that would give greater visibility to the community of Gandul and rescue its historical importance in the Santurce area while at the same time offer its residents tools for entrepreneurial empowerment so that they might take the reins of their community.

With the generous support of the Flamboyán for the Arts Fund, we invited artist and community leader Edgardo Larregui to head up a project we called MIRA EL GANDUL 2020 — “LOOK AT GANDUL 2020” — through which we teach design and horticultural skills that encourage talent and stimulate the creation of microbusinesses for our neighbors in El Gandul.
